Gait Analysis
the Window to Your Health
“Just like the eyes are the windows to the soul, your gait pattern is the window to any underlying disease or musculoskeletal irregularities.”
— Rebecca Moore, Performance Health Academy
The Impower self-pacing treadmill technology will enable you to measure and track your gait just as you currently track other vital signs through your smart watch. Impower will enable gait to become the sixth vital sign - licensing gait analysis across commercial and therapy treadmills globally.
What is Gait Analysis?
Normal gait is rhythmical, alternating movements of trunk and limbs. It has reciprocal arm-swing and heel strike with increased velocity, cadence, step length.
Healthy gait is walking speed > 1.4 m/s (3.1 mph), stride length ~150 cm (59")
Decline in gait speed, cadence, and shorter step length is associated with aging.
Gait abnormalities can indicate stroke, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, or Parkinson's.

Biomechanics is the study of the human body in motion. By applying principles from mechanics and engineering, biomechanists are able to study the forces that act on the body and the effects they produce. In biomechanics, movement is studied in order to understand the underlying mechanisms involved in the movement or in the acquisition and regulation of skill.
But no, our Gait Analysis won’t work like this.
